Five Fellows recognised with Australia Day honours

The Academy would like to warmly congratulate Fellows who have been celebrated with Australia Day honours, recognising their contributions to health and medical sciences.

  • Dr Alan Simon Finkel AC FAA FTSE FAHMS was named a Companion (AC) in the General Division of The Order of Australia for eminent service to science, to national energy innovation and research infrastructure capability, to climate change and COVID-19 response initiatives, and to science and engineering education.

 

  • Professor Sandra Eades AO FASSA FAHMS was named an Officer (AO) in the General Division of The Order of Australia for distinguished service to medical research, to Indigenous health, and to professional organisations.

 

  • Professor Julie Byles AO FAHMS was named an Officer (AO) in the General Division of The Order of Australia for distinguished service to medical research, to gerontology, and to professional scientific organisations.

 

 

  • Professor Tuan Nguyen AM FAHMS was named a Member (AM) in the General Division of The Order of Australia for significant service to medical research, to osteoporosis and fracture prevention, and to tertiary education.
