Join us in Brisbane as we celebrate our new Fellows, present our annual awards, and discuss ways to improve health equity across Australia. The event will include online and in person opportunities to attend.

This year’s theme is Driving health equity – a pressing concern globally. This meeting is an opportunity to exchange ideas, consider the latest research findings, and discuss innovative solutions to improve the health outcomes of disadvantaged populations in Australia.

Our exciting program includes several keynotes and panel sessions. We are pleased to announce the below speakers, with more to follow:

Speakers include:

    • Professor Tom Calma AO FAA FASSA (ACT) – Chancellor, University of Canberra; Senior Australian of the Year – keynote
    • Professor Sir Michael Marmot (UK) – Professor of Epidemiology, University College London; Director, UCL Institute of Health Equity; Past President of the World Medical Association. Professor Sir Marmot will be in conversation with Professor Fran Baum AO FAHMS (SA) – Professor of Health Equity, University of Adelaide Stretton Institute – keynote (online)
    • Professor Sharon Friel FASSA FAHMS (ACT) – Professor of Health Equity, Australian National University
    • Professor Jonathan Golledge (QLD) – Head of the Queensland Research Centre for Peripheral Vascular Disease, James Cook University
    • Dr Merrill Turpin (QLD) – Senior Lecturer in Occupational Therapy, the University of Queensland
    • Professor Chelsea Watego (QLD) – Executive Director, Carumba Institute and Professor of Indigenous Health, Queensland University of Technology
    • Professor Tarun Weeramanthri AM (WA) – President, Public Health Association of Australia

The event will also feature talks from new Academy Fellows and will celebrate the outstanding achievements of researchers in the health and medical sciences over the past few years.

This event will bring together our Fellows, Associate Members and the wider research and innovation community, and is open to all.

Registration is essential.

In-person registration includes morning tea, lunch and afternoon tea.
