Twelve Fellows honoured

Twelve Fellows from the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences have been honoured for their significant service to the community.

Fellows were recognised not only for their outstanding contributions to the health and medical sciences, but also for their work as mentors, advocates and community leaders.

The Academy warmly congratulations them on this well-deserved recognition.

Two Fellows were named as Companions (AC) in the General Division of the Order of Australia:

  • Emeritus Professor Caroline Bower AC FAHMS, for eminent service to medical research as a paediatric epidemiologist, particularly in birth defects and early childhood development, to health and welfare through public health initiatives, and to medical education.
  • Professor Glenda Halliday AC FAA FAHMS, for eminent service to medical research in the field of neurodegenerative disorders, including the development of revised diagnostic criteria for Parkinson’s disease, and as a mentor.

Seven Fellows were named Officers (AO) in the General Division of the Order of Australia:

Three Fellows were appointed as Members in the General Division of the Order of Australia (AM):
