AAHMS Fellow elected to US National Academy of Medicine

We are delighted to congratulate AAHMS Fellow, Professor Paul Myles FAHMS, on his election as member of the US National Academy of Medicine. 

Professor Paul Myles is Chair of the Academic Board of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine and the current Director of the Department of Anaesthesia and Perioperative Medicine at the Alfred Hospital and Monash University, Melbourne. His research interests include the quality of patient recovery, avoidance of postoperative complications, and large multicentre trials in anaesthesia.

He is an NHMRC Practitioner Fellow and was the founding Chair of the Australian and New Zealand College of Anaesthetists Clinical Trials Network (ANZCA CTN). He is an Editor of the British Journal of Anaesthesia, an Editorial Consultant for The Lancet, and an editorial board member of Anesthesiology, and Anaesthesia and Intensive Care. He has published more than 250 papers, and been awarded more than 20 NHMRC grants totalling over $30 million. In 2017, he received the Excellence in Research Award from the American Society of Anesthesiologists.

Professor Myles was elected a Fellow of the Australian Academy of Health and Medical Sciences in 2015.
