Professor Fiona Stapleton is an international authority on contact lens safety, dry eye and infections affecting the surface of the eye. She was the first to establish the increased infection risks associated with different contact lens types, informing strategies to reduce these risks. Her research has also changed the definition, diagnosis and management of dry eye and related conditions and identified the influence of social circumstances on these conditions.
