Professor Carla Treloar is an internationally recognised researcher in the social aspects of health, particularly stigma, inequality and marginalisation. She developed the first Stigma Indicator to measure experiences of stigma. This work has shaped national blood-borne virus strategies, informed health policy and services, and led to interventions to reduce stigma in health care. She has been elected to the Academy of the Social Sciences in Australia and appointed a Member of the Order of Australia for her contributions to social research and tertiary education.
