We are back in Brisbane for an evening event that will guide and inspire your efforts to dive into research as a clinician.

Perhaps you’re wondering how to get started in research, when to take time out for a PhD, or how to balance your time between research and clinical duties? Or perhaps you’re a patient, carer, or member of the public interested to know more about how clinicians improve health outcomes through research?

Our panel will share their stories about their research and will reflect on the rewards and challenges of a clinician scientist career.

Join us on Monday 5 August at the QIMR Berghofer Medical Research Institute for an evening discussion over a light meal.

This event is for any medical or health student, trainee doctor or health professional, PhD student, early career researcher, or interested member of the public. It will ask how medical and health professionals can drive Australia’s efforts to tackle the nation’s biggest health problems by combining clinical care with research.

This evening event forms part of the Academy’s ‘Life as a Clinician Scientist’ series, which aims to encourage and inspire medical and clinical students, junior doctors, clinical trainees and early career researchers to become involved in research. At these events, Fellows of the Academy and other clinician scientists share their stories about how the unique combination of clinical medicine and science allows them to work with patients and take their insights from the bedside to answer fundamental scientific questions, and then translate them back to improve patient care.
